Visit the Lizard during your Holiday in Cornwall
Spend your camping or caravan holiday at Perran Springs Holiday Park and visit the Lizard, a windswept headland of craggy cliff scenery, scattered with small fishing villages and coves. One of these is Kynance Cove, a small beach which is loved by locals and visitors alike. The Lizard’s name is derived from ‘lis’ meaning ‘place’ and ‘ard’ meaning ‘high’ and this description refers to whole peninsula. Lizard Point is England’s most southerly point and is famous for its lighthouse, the first one to be built in Cornwall in 1619.
Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station sits within the peninsula on the serpentine rock which occurs throughout the area. Nearby is the town of Helston which is home to RNAS Culdrose Air Base and the tourist Attraction Flambards Theme Park, which always proves to be a children’s favourite. Helston has been made famous for the Flora Day which is held just once a year.
Information on events and activities around the Lizard area can be obtained from the information area in Reception.
