Book your camping and touring holiday in Cornwall at Perran Springs Holiday Park and visit
Newquay. Cornwall’s premier holiday resort and is situated only six miles along the coast from our holiday park. Newquay has 11 sandy beaches, stretching for over 7 miles. The town is very popular with families and it is also one of the countries leading resorts for surfing.
The holiday resort offers entertainment and a number of activities, including sea fishing
trips, surfing schools, a bowling green and Golf Club. Attractions include Newquay Zoo,
Trenance Leisure Park and the Blue Reef Aquarium.
Further afield is the National Trust house of Trerice and the young children’s Lappa Valley
Steam Railway. Information on events and activities around Newquay can be obtained from
the holiday parks reception.
In the past Newquay was primarily a fishing port, before becoming popular for bathing when
fashions changed. The white Huer’s Hut can still be seen on Towan Headland, hot far from
the harbour. Cries of ‘hevva’ ‘hevva’ meaning ‘found’ ‘found’, would ring out from the hut,
when the highly prized shoals of pilchards appeared across the bay, and the fisherman
would rush out with their nets and boats to catch the fish.
