Perran Springs Nature and Environment
Our aim is to protect the environment in which we live and to encourage the wildlife which exists and is attracted to our local area. As a holiday park, we are committed to minimising the impact we make on our natural environment.
We actively encourage wildlife to flourish and leave areas throughout the park and some hedgerows to nature. We also manage areas around the lake meadow to promote biodiversity of animal and plantlife, by planting native species where of benefit and carefully maintaining ‘wild’ areas.
We also have our own private access to a public footpath which runs through the Carn Moor Nature Reserve and Conservation Area, adjacent to the park. This is an area classified by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust as “an important flowering heathland and wetland”, part of the Tywarnhayle Common. The short walk is described by DEFRA: as one “which supports the insectivorous Round Leaved Sundew, Fragment Orchid, Royal Fern and other rare plants such as Dorset Heath (Erica Ciliaris).” Nearby there is also an “excellent area of drier heath, also rich in wildlife and flora”.
