Butterfly, Bug and Bee Garden – At Perran Springs Holiday Park
The Butterfly, Bug and Bee Garden includes the following plants and flowers. These have been planted to encourage our nectar feeding friends to the garden.
Hyssop – flowers Jun/Jul/Aug
Globe Thistle - flowers Jul/Aug
Scabious Butterfly Blue - flowers Jul/Aug/Sep
Lavender - flowers Jul/Aug/Sep
Buddleia Butterfly Bush – flowers Jul/Aug/Sep
Michaelmas Daisy – flowers Sep/Oct
Thyme + Rosemary
Native Ivy and Nettles, listed above, are beneficial to butterflies and caterpillars. These plants grow naturally in the hedgerows of the park, and as they can have an invasive nature we have not planted them in the garden. Nettles – flowers May/Jun/Jul/Aug/Sep. Ivy – flowers Sep/Oct/Nov
We have also included different habitats within the Garden.
The Butterfly House and Feeding Station, The Ladybird and Lacewing House and The Solitary Bee Hive, which attracts non-swarming Red Mason Bees.
In addition, the Garden includes a large log, which is home to a variety of bugs and snails. The tree also hides numerous insects. The two large rocks have been positioned to provide a place for butterflies to soak up the sun on a hot day.
All photographs have been taken at Perran Springs Holiday Park.
