Tent Care

When taking care of your tent - get to know your tent before use:

Before your initial camping trip, practice pitching the tent
Check that all the parts are there
It is recommended that you carry spare pole(s) and a tent repair kit
Seal all seams with sealant but taped seams don't usually require sealing
New cotton tents need to be weathered
Condensation can occur and should not be confused with leakage
To reduce condensation ensure that the tent is well ventilated
It helps to pitch a tent with all the zips closed
Avoid treading on zips and treat gently
If a zip is stuck, try some silicon lubricant
Do not peg the groundsheet out too tightly
Drive pegs in at an angle to the direction of pull to get the best grip in the ground
Peg in line with the direction of the tent seams
Pegs situated at the base of zips should be crossed over to take any strain of the zips
Do not overstretch rubber guy loops
Do not place cooking, heating or lighting appliances near the sides of your tent
Never allow children to play near or with lighted appliances, in or outside the tent
Keep your tent exits clear at all times
